【ZA Bank】SCAM ALERT: 🚨 Don’t open any “phishy” links!

It’s unfortunate that there are so many fraudsters around nowadays! They can use WhatsApp to steal personal accounts, conduct fake recruitment, commit online shopping fraud and more! You really need to be more careful!
🔒 Common WhatsApp fraud methods:
1. Borrowing money from friends and relatives
Fraudsters can pretend to be your friends and relatives. They will say that they have updated their numbers and are in a hurry to borrow your money! If you receive messages of this kind, you must call to confirm the identity of the other party, and do not transfer any of your money directly.
2. Stealing WhatsApp accounts
Fraudsters can use phishing SMS messages or fake official notifications to ask victims to enter WhatsApp verification codes to steal their accounts!
3. Fake customer service
Fraudsters can pretend to be members of WhatsApp’s official customer service team and send users messages indicating "account abnormalities" or that a user’s "identity verification is required". This is to trick users into providing verification codes or login information. Remember, do not send verification codes to anyone!
4. Fake recruitment for high-paying, part-time jobs
Fraudsters can contact victims on WhatsApp, claiming to provide high-paying, part-time jobs that are, for example, easy and simple but also highly recommended. However, these jobs will require a "deposit" or "handling fee" to be paid first.
Remember, real companies will not ask you to do this! If you encounter a recruitment message that requires payment, just ignore it.
5. Online shopping fraud
Fraudsters can claim to sell brand-name handbags and electronic products at low prices, but you may not receive the goods after payment. That’s why you should be careful about goods with prices that are almost too amazing to be true! Also, don't click or tap on suspicious or unfamiliar links!
6. Impersonating banks or government agencies (such as the Immigration Department, the Police Force, etc.)
Fraudsters can notify a person that his or her bank account or identity documents are involved in a case, and further ask the victim to provide personal information or transfer a "deposit" to defraud them! Remember, do not share personal information with anyone!
Here are four ways to help protect your finances:
✔️ Enable WhatsApp two-factor authentication (“2FA”): Set a 6-digit password to protect your account from being stolen.
✔️ Verify the identity of relatives and friends: If you receive a message from relatives and friends asking for money or help, you should call to confirm the identity of the other party instead of replying to the WhatsApp message directly.
✔️ Do not tap or click on unfamiliar links: Fraudsters will send out phishing websites and ask for personal information, so be careful!
✔️ The government and banks will not contact you via WhatsApp: If you receive similar messages, call the official phone number directly to enquire. If you have any doubts, call the "Anti-Scam Helpline 18222" hotline!
